LEICESTER — Robert J. Spezzano, age 66, of South Street in Leicester, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

He is survived by his children, Stephanie Cook of Leicester, Stephen Spezzano of Burlington, Vt.; granddaughters, Khristina, Cassidy and Lacie Cook; brothers, George (Elaine) Spezzano of Geneseo, Ronald (Pat) Spezzano of Leroy, Joseph Spezzano of Leicester; special friend with whom he resided, Carol Johnson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was born May 16, 1947 in Batavia, N.Y. the son of George and Vera West Spezzano.

Calling Hours were held Friday, January 3, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo where Memorial Services followed visitation at 7 p.m.

NUNDA — N. Stephen Castor, 83, joined his children Karen, Jon, and David in heaven on January 2, 2014, in the arms of his wife, Carol (Tuttle).

He is survived by his children, Miriam (Michael) DaBramo, Rick (Laurel) Castor, and Cathy (Mark) Collier and their mother Connie Jackson, and step-son, Justin (Christi) Smith. He is also survived by siblings, Richard (Diana), Molly (Hale) Johnson, Phil (Beckie), Cathy (Dave) Hicks; nine beloved grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Steve’s name may be directed to Houghton Wesleyan Church, where a memorial service will be held March 1st at 10 a.m.

DALTON — Lisa A. Gaby, age 53 of 1730 North Street, Dalton, N.Y., died Friday, January 3, 2014 after a courageous battle with Cancer at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

She was born the daughter of Dean and Valerie (Spike) Gaby on April 30, 1960 in Hornell, New York.

She is survived by her son Alek Gaby, mother Valerie Spike Gaby, and brother Kevin (Cheryl) Gaby all of Dalton; Aunt Jean Wirt and two uncles, Keith and Roger Gaby; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her father Dean Gaby.

A celebration of the Life of Lisa will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Dalton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ones favorite charity. MOUNT MORRIS — Mazie M. Barone, age 87 of 17 Barone Avenue, Mount Morris, New York, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Avon Nursing Home in Avon, New York.

She was born the daughter of Anthony and Sarah (Lanza) Leta on January 15, 1926 in Avon, New York. She married Joseph Barone on August 30, 1947.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Cindy) Barone of Syracuse and Richard (Debbie) Barone of Wayland; three grandchildren, Kelly (David) Rea of Pittsford, Erin (Tom) Averill of Corning and Sarah (Nick) Reynolds of Penfield; great grandson, Christopher David Rea of Pittsford; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Barone in 2011.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris, where Prayers will be said Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. DALTON — Richard E. (Dick) Burt, age 86, passed away at home on Saturday, January 4, 2014, after a long illness.

He was born August 22, 1927, in Dalton, N.Y., the son of Malcolm R. and Harriette T. Burt.

Dick’s wife Elnora predeceased him in 1970. In 1976, he married Lenore Maker, who predeceased him in 1993. His remaining years were spent with his beloved companion, Patricia Wirt of Dalton, who survives. Dick is also survived by sons, William D. Burt of Geneseo; Steven W. Burt, wife Audrey, and sons, Michael, Brian and John of Roanoke, Va.; Douglas E. Burt, wife Julie, and daughters, Susanne, Sarah and Joanna of Cuba; Thomas A. Burt, wife Dee Dee, and sons, Christopher, Matthew and Timothy of Dalton; daughter, Laurie Kastelic, husband Gene, and sons, Daniel, Andrew, and Alexander of Bosque Farms, N.M.; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Burt.

Visiting hours will be held at Mann Funeral Home, 44 North State Street, Nunda, New York on Thursday, January 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will be held Friday morning (January 10th) at the Hunts Hollow Cemetery, followed by a public memorial and celebration of Dick’s life to be held at the G.A.R. Legion Hall in Dalton at 1 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the National Wild Turkey Federation or the Nunda Ambulance Corps.

HONEOYE FALLS/NUNDA — Harry A. Dieter, age 81, died January 4, 2014, born October 21, 1932 in Warsaw to the late Lester and Helen Dieter.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Georgia Dieter; parents; son, Lynn; brothers, Raymond “Johnny” and Theodore “Ted.”

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia of Honeoye Falls; son, Lloyd Dieter of Nunda; daughter, Laurie Dieter of Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Nancy (Thomas) Balecia of Lyons, N.Y., Lois (Charles) Persyn of Oakland, Calif.; brother, Bruce (Regina) Rawleigh of Homer, N.Y.; grandson, David (Lynsey) Dieter of Walworth; many niece, nephews and cousins.

Friends called at the Mann Funeral Home in Nunda on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Thursday 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Duryea, officiating. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Robinson; brothers, Harry (Kathleen) Rowlinson Jr., William Rowlinson; sister-in-law, Deb Rowlinson; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gary McLain; parents, Harry and Carole Rowlinson Sr.; brothers, Stephen and James Rowlinson.

BASEHOR, Kansas — Stephen Joseph Polizzi of Basehor, Kansas died Thursday, January 2, 2014.

He was born November 8, 1959, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Nancy (Roffe) Polizzi.

Steve was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife, Hellen, daughter, Amber (Victor) Downing, daughter, Kristen and grandson, Trey Downing.

Steve is also survived by his parents; sister, Laura (Tim) Anderson; and brothers, David (Linda) Polizzi and Matthew Polizzi; as well as three nieces and four nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 8th, followed by burial with full military honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Chris was born to John and Lorma Gilbride, February 13, 1956, in Warsaw, NY.

Chris is survived by her parents: John and Lorma Gilbride, her daughter: Melissa Goppert, and her brothers and sisters: Brian and Karen Gilbride, and Scott and Charlotte Gilbride. She also is survived by her adoring nieces and nephews; and a great many loving friends and co-workers.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this Spring.

YORK — Florence B. Simpson, age 93, of York, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth B. Simpson in 2002 and son, David Bartron Simpson in 1948.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Judith) Simpson of York; daughter, Lynne (Peter) Hudak of Henrietta; grandsons, Jeff (Danielle) Simpson of Gananda, N.Y., David Hudak of Henrietta; great grandson, Justin Reed Simpson; several nieces and nephews.

Florence was born July 17, 1920 in Rochester, N.Y. the daughter of Oscar and Mabel Bowen Bartron. She and Kenneth were married on November 2, 1946.

Friends called Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main St. in Geneseo. Memorial Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the York United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Main St. in York with Pastor Michelle Sumption officiating. Burial Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York.

DANSVILLE — James M. “Jimmy” Acomb, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday night, January 11, 2014, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

He was born in Dansville, on September 26, 1927, a son of the late Edward and Marie (Roche) Acomb. On August 5, 1950, he was married to Marjorie (Stoner) Acomb who predeceased him on January 23, 1991. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Richard “Bud” Acomb, Edward Acomb Jr., Jean (Dr. John) VanLandingham, Evelyn Roberts, and Marjorie Acomb.

Surviving are his children, Timothy (Sally) Acomb, Karen (Murray) Deutsch, Gail (William) McMurry, Jayne Acomb; four grandchildren, Bryan Acomb, Shaun (Kristin) Deutsch, Mark Acomb, Michelle Deutsch; three great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Sick; two sisters-in-law, Alice Acomb, Dianne Acomb; a brother-in-law, Bob Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends called Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. His parents, Frederick and Florence Hackett and sister, Alden Clark predeceased Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hackett; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr. and Debra Hackett; daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Christopher Prinzi; special friend, Tracy Sickles; several nieces, nephews and cousins; very special cousin, the Rev. He is predeceased by his wife, Esther; parents, Sanford and Elizabeth Smith.

SOMERSET, Ky. — Donald Joseph McConnell, 83, of Somerset Ky., passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 17, 2014.

Donald was born on January 16, 1931 in the Borough of Manhattan, New York City, New York to the late John McConnell and Virginia Hopkins Masson. He was married to Ruthmary Wells in Phoenix, Ariz.. on April 22, 1953 and to this union four children were born.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ruthmary McConnell; his four children, Susan Supinski (Dr. Robert) of Somerset, Ky., Virginia Pharaoh (Dr. James) Knoxville, Tenn., Daniel McConnell (Beth) Houston, Texas, Brian McConnell (Cynthia) Cochabamba, Bolivia; ten grandchildren Stephanie, Shanna, Cara and Molly McConnell; Rebecca, Andrew and Matthew Graves; Lily Supinski, Carola Criado (Jose), and Christopher Coria, as well as two great-grandchildren Nicholas and Bella Criado. Also surviving are two special first cousins, Sue Tanis of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Sybilla Bazil of Waldorf, Md.

Visitation for Donald Joseph McConnell will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. with a Celebration of Life service being held at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Nancy Lowmaster officiating. In addition, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverview Cemetery at Jefferson City, Mo. with Dr. David Henry officiating.
Somerset Undertaking Co. is in charge of all arrangements.

GENESEO — Anne E. Noga, 82, of Morgan Estates in Geneseo, formerly of Auburn, died surrounded by her family on Friday, January 17, 2014.

Anne was born in Auburn, N.Y., on November 20, 1931 to William and Marion Chase Kinsella. Anne married her high school sweetheart, John F. Noga, in 1951.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, John; two sons, Gerry Noga and Douglas Noga; and sister, Joan LoPiccolo.

Anne is survived by her devoted family: daughters, Carol (Thomas) Dillon of Geneseo and Jamie Noga of Canandaigua; son, Jeff Noga of Burlingame, Calif.; grandchildren, Dan (Andrea) Zuniga, Amanda (Bradley) Baskett, Nicole (Benjamin) Glass and Andrew (Jennel) Dillon; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Joshua and Isaac Glass, Aidan, Kegan and Addison Dillon, Sophia Zuniga, and Ethan Baskett; sister-in-law, Stella DuPree; brother-in-law, Anthony Coco; special niece, Karen (Ray) Brown; several additional nieces and nephews; lifelong friend Don Pierce and many more beloved friends.
